Outreach Opportunity:

Throughout the year, St. James supports the Bulldog Pantry located at West York High School. The pantry is open to families of the West York School District. Remembering that Lent is a time of sacrifice, the Social Ministry committee is making a special push to help fill the shelves of the pantry. Below is a list of items that are needed. They will also accept gift cards or cash. You may drop any donations off at the church Monday-Thursday from 9:00 to 12:00.

Breakfast Blessings:

The first Saturday of each month from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. in the Social Room the St. James congregation hosts a breakfast for the hungry. The breakfasts are organized by the Breakfast Blessings committee. The program provides nutritious breakfasts such as sausage, eggs, pancakes, cereal, toast, juice, milk and coffee to needy families and individuals in West York and the surrounding communities.

The whole congregation supports the breakfasts through volunteering, donating food and supplies, and monetary donations. Local businesses also help us by supplying food and other donations. Those attending the breakfasts are also given clothing and personal hygiene items.

Please come out on a Saturday morning to help and enjoy the fellowship. There’s plenty to do… from greeting, preparing and serving the food, handing out the clothing and supplies… to cleaning tables and washing dishes. If you know of a person or family that needs a nutritious breakfast please invite them to come out for one of the breakfasts.

Though St. James hosts these breakfasts only on the first Saturday of each month other churches in the City of York and the Borough of West York take turns hosting the free breakfasts to anyone in the communities.

Several baskets of miscellaneous items are on the tables, and there are two closed wooden doors on the wall, one with frosted glass panels and a sign reading 'Church Library' hanging on the door handle. There's a bulletin board and various notes and papers pinned on the wall. The floor is dark wood, and part of the ceiling exposes pipes and a mounted speaker.
